Introduction
Let’s get straight to it. We built this infrared bathroom mirror heater for one reason: to keep your mirror dry and warm, so mold never gets a foothold. It’s not just about stepping into a cozy bathroom. It’s about taking control. We’re using targeted radiant heat to manage the microclimate right on the mirror and the wall around it. Here’s the magic: we use shortwave infrared. It heats surfaces directly, not the air. That’s the whole secret to how it keeps moisture at bay.
The Nitty-Gritty Details
Our standard setup is a 2500W infrared tube, designed for a 400V hookup. That voltage isn’t an accident. It keeps the current lower over longer runs, which means you can use smaller wires and avoid voltage drop in a hardwired install. The tube is 300mm long. Perfect. It gives you enough heating power to cover a standard mirror width, without feeling bulky in the enclosure. And yeah, it’s high power. That’s the whole point. We need to get the mirror and the nearby tiles warm fast, so condensation never even has a chance to form. But that power comes with a real trade-off. 2500W throws off a lot of heat, so your junction box and the materials around it have to be able to handle the temperature. And the mounting frame needs some breathing room for airflow.
What It’s Made Of
Inside, you’ve got a quartz envelope and a shortwave infrared filament. Quartz is tough. It can handle the shock of heating up fast and cooling down again, over and over, without cracking. That shortwave spectrum is what lets it heat surfaces so quickly. It’s exactly what you need to keep the mirror’s surface above the dew point. We use an R7s connector, too. It’s a practical, industry-proven end-cap that lets you wire the unit straight into a recessed ceramic holder. Installation is simple: line it up, seat it, and lock it. The connection stays tight, even with vibration and expansion from the heat, so you never have to worry about it loosening and causing an arc over time.
What It Does For You
A bathroom is always full of moisture. But when the mirror stays warm, any condensation just evaporates. That also lightens the moisture load on the wall. Less standing water means you’re naturally cutting down on mold and mildew. It even helps dehumidify the space, but in a smart way—by warming the surfaces, not by trying to heat the whole room. For the engineers and installers out there, this is a compact, hard-wired solution that’s built like industrial equipment. You get serious heat density in a small package, a simple R7s connection, and a rugged quartz build that can take the daily on-off cycle. We designed it to trade raw power for control. It gives you just enough radiant energy to change the surface conditions, with predictable electrical performance that you can rely on in the field.
