
Getting the Heat Right for Husky HyPET Systems
If you’ve ever pulled a bottle off the line and seen those annoying thin spots or that cloudy, pearlescent look, you know exactly what’s happening. Your preform isn’t heating evenly. The outside is cooking, but the inside is still cold. It’s a frustrating cycle that kills your quality. We built our infrared lamps to stop that from happening. The secret is in the penetration. Most lamps just scorch the surface. That’s not helpful. We use short-wave halogen tech to push the energy deep into the PET. By tweaking the tungsten filament and the quartz thickness, we make sure the heat actually hits the core of the preform. It’s fast. Really fast. And because you aren’t fighting a “cold center,” you can shave time off your cycle without worrying about burning the outside of the plastic. No headaches during install. We didn’t want you spending hours fiddling with the hardware. These are drop-in replacements for Husky systems. We kept the tolerances tight on the length and end-caps so they don’t rattle or fail when the machine starts humming. Plus, we used reinforced quartz. High-speed lines are brutal on equipment—constant heating and cooling can snap a cheap tube. Ours are built to take a beating. A few things to keep in mind… Wiring these up is easy with your standard connectors. But here’s the thing: if you crank up the wattage to push your line even faster, you’re adding a lot of heat to the oven. Make sure your cooling system can actually handle that extra load. If your airflow is off, you’ll end up with hotspots. And one last tip? Keep your reflectors clean. If they’re dusty, you lose that focal point, and all that engineered penetration goes right out the window.
