If you’ve ever seen one, you know it’s harsh. It’s the kind of light that makes you squint, and if you’ve got a baby in the tub, it’s just too much for their eyes. We fix this by tweaking the quartz tube. Keeping the warmth, losing the glare The trick is to use special coatings or filtered glass. Think of it like sunglasses for the heater. These filters block out the blinding white light but let the infrared heat slide right through. You still feel that cozy warmth on your skin, but the lamp looks softer—more of a warm glow than a stadium light. Now, there’s a bit of a trade-off here. Adding these filters can dip the raw heat power a tiny bit, but it’s a price we’re happy to pay to make sure the thing is safe for your home. Water, steam, and safety Water and electricity are a terrible mix, especially when your bathroom is basically a sauna. That’s why we build these to an IP65 standard. In plain English? The housing is tight enough to keep out dust and handles those stray splashes of water without a problem. We seal up the wiring and use tempered glass to keep the moisture away from the heating element. It just works. A few tips for the install If you’re setting these up, keep an eye on your power. These lamps pull a lot of current the second they kick in. If you’re installing a few of them, don’t go cheap on the cables—use the right gauge so you don’t overload the circuit. Also, remember that quartz lamps gethot. Really hot. Make sure the housing has room to breathe. If it’s cramped, the heat builds up and trips the safety cut-offs. And for heaven’s sake, check the gap between the lamp and your ceiling. You don’t want to end up with scorched paint on your ceiling.
